How to Play Truth or Dare

Players take turns. On your turn, someone asks “Truth or dare?”. Pick truth and you answer a question honestly; pick dare and you do a task. Most groups allow one or two skips per person per game, and a skipped card costs a small penalty, like ten squats or a sip of something.

Agree on limits before you start, especially for dares involving phones, exes or touching. The best games stay a little uncomfortable and never humiliating.

Safe for a mixed party: silly, a little embarrassing, and over in under a minute.

1. Talk in a foreign accent until your next turn.
2. Act out any animal and let everyone guess it.
3. Show us the last photo in your camera roll.
4. Dance for 30 seconds with no music.
5. Do an impression of another player so good that everyone gets it.
6. Sing everything you say until your next turn.
7. Tell a joke. If nobody laughs, tell another one.

Tips for a Better Game

Alternate. If someone picks truth three times in a row, the group can call a mandatory dare. It keeps the game from turning into an interview.

Make the dares short. Anything that takes longer than a minute stops the game for everyone else.

Keep it fair. Phone dares are fun until someone texts a boss or an ex who didn’t sign up for it. Set the rules first.
